Their story
Born in the high villages of Kabylie, Amirouche Aït Hamouda took command of Wilaya III at a brutal moment of the war. Fearless in the field and demanding with his men, he turned the Djurdjura mountains into a stronghold of organized armed struggle.
Did you know?
His remains were hidden for decades after independence and only returned to a public resting place in 1984.
