Historical significance

His revolt is one of the largest indigenous uprisings of late Roman Africa.

Their story

A Berber prince from the mountains of what is today Kabylie, Firmus rose against corrupt Roman officials and proclaimed himself emperor. For years his fighters used the rough terrain to wear down imperial armies, until a long campaign by general Theodosius forced his end.
